Just because...

Diplomatic wranglings have gotten very murky indeed, as everyone sits patiently to await Iran's response to the proposals laid out by the Security Council, plus one. Condoleezza Rice is being painted as a moderate despite warning Iran that it didn't have much time to respond. The Ayatollah came out warning against attacking Iran and railed against 'threats and bribes', while remaining the main person in a position to haggle.

A mini-Cold War has broken out between the US and Russia and China. Russia sold Iran anti-aircraft missiles, the US countered by offering European countries access to the missile defence shield, but had to deny that this proposal was aimed at Russia and China. Elsewhere in a 'sphere of influence' style exercise Venezuela has decided to buy Russian, while suggesting that he may sell his old F-16s to Iran.

Any talk of sanctions has been dismissed as premature by Russia, although the sanctions that could be used in the deal would allow both China and Russia to 'opt-out'. The apparent draft on the Iranian nuclear program rules out the immediate use of force, yet the fucknut John Bolton has said 'no option is taken off the table'.

Both the Arab League and the NAM (Non-Aligned Movement) have come out in support of Iran's nuclear activities. Questions over whether the diplomacy is designed to fail remains, while other see the leaning towards moderation within the Iranian theocracy.
